Materials & Recycling FAQs

What is recycled plastic?

Recycled plastic is material that has already been used or processed and is turned into new products, reducing waste and environmental impact.

How is recycled plastic different from virgin plastic?

Virgin plastic is made from new fossil-fuel-based materials, whereas recycled plastic
reuses existing materials, generally reducing carbon emissions and landfill
waste.

Is recycled plastic as durable as virgin plastic?

When processed correctly, recycled plastic can match the durability and performance
of virgin plastic.

Why should I choose recycled plastic products?

Choosing recycled plastic helps reduce reliance on virgin materials, supports recycling systems, and keeps plastics in use rather than in landfill.

Recycling

How do I recycle products made from metal?

Metal components such as aluminium or steel can usually be taken to scrap metal recyclers or council recovery facilities. Metal is highly recyclable and can be reused many times.

Are rubber and silicone products recyclable?

Rubber and silicone are not commonly accepted in standard kerbside recycling. Some specialist recyclers accept these materials.

If recycling is not available locally, dispose of them responsibly through general
waste.

How do I recycle products made from mixed materials?

If possible, disassemble the product and recycle each material separately. This improves recycling outcomes and reduces
contamination.

What should I do with Dezinery products when I no longer need them?

Start by seeing if the item can be reused, repaired, or repurposed. If it has reached the end of its usable life, see whether our supplier will accept it ("N - "Next Life" in product rating).

Otherwise, separate materials
where possible and recycle each component according to your local council
guidelines.

Can Dezinery recycled plastic products go in kerbside recycling?

First, check the "N - Next Life" product rating to see if our Supplier will accept the item.

Then check local council guidelines. Rigid plastic products may be accepted in some council kerbside recycling programs. Soft plastics should not go in kerbside bins and should be returned through specialist soft plastic collection programs where
available.

Can I recycle Dezinery parcel packaging?

Cardboard and paper packaging can usually go into kerbside recycling. Flatten boxes and remove tape to help recycling facilities process them efficiently.

Soft plastic packaging should be collected separately where programs exist.

Why does end of life recycling matter?

Even recycled products require energy and resources to make.
Responsible disposal keeps materials in circulation, reduces landfill, and supports demand for recycled content in future products.
